In Zusammenhang mit dem Europavergleich der Gesundheitssysteme tauchte die Frage auf, wer sich denn eigentlich hinter dem Health Consumer Powerhouse verbirgt, und von welchen Interessen dieser Verein geleitet werden könnte. Bei der Recherche fielen mir folgende Informationen dazu in die Hände:
Das HCP ist ein Verbund mit Niederlassungen in Brüssel und Stockholm, der es sich auf die Fahnen geschrieben hat, die europäischen Gesundheitssysteme aus dem Blickwinkel der Verbraucher unter die Lupe zu nehmen und Visionen aufzuzeigen.

Wer aber ist Mr. Hjertqvist?
Johan Hjertqvist is the founder and president of the Health Consumer Powerhouse in Brussels/Stockholm, the European do-tank for better healthcare by consumer information and knowledge (2004). Before the Powerhouse, Mr Hjertqvist was the director of Timbro Health Policy Unit, a division of the Timbro Policy Group, Stockholm, Sweden. Mr Hjertqvist has a Master of Laws degree from the University of Stockholm. In the late 1970s he was instrumental in the founding and building of the Timbro Policy Group, for a long time the sole think tank in Sweden (and still the most influential one). He was editor-in-chief of the NPT, another Timbro operation and the first Swedish news agency to promote business and economy material. In the middle of the 1980s he belonged to a small group of entrepreneurs starting the first private Swedish venture capital market. He also worked as a Senior Counsellor at the Burson-Marsteller Communications Group. 1991–94 he was deputy Mayor of his home town Tyresö outside Stockholm.

On March 1, 2003 the industry association The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise together with Näringslivets fond founded Stiftelsen Fritt Näringsliv - SFN (The Swedish Free Enterprise Foundation).
This new foundation was established in order to grant long-term stability to the opinion work done within the framework of Näringslivets Fond since the mid 1940’s, primarily by the free market think-tank Timbro since its inception in 1978.
Our aim is to further and continue the development of ideas and the open public debate based on the values of market economics, the right to own, and free enterprise until now made possible by Näringslivets fond for more than 50 years. The Foundation for Free Enterprise is not tied to any political party.
Ich hoffe, es ist jetzt klarer, welchen Hintergrund die Studie hat. Dazu fallen mir ganz ähnliche Stiftungen und Initiativen hier in Deutschland ein. Ich komme nur gerade nicht auf die Namen...
